Vice City streets at dusk — a reimagined Miami built for next-gen

GTA 6's setting is the fictional state of Leonida — a sprawling recreation of Florida. At its heart is Vice City, the neon-soaked Miami-inspired metropolis fans have been waiting to return to since 2002. But this isn't just a remake of the old Vice City. It's an entirely new world built from scratch on modern hardware.

💡 Map Scale

The GTA 6 map is estimated to be 2-3x the size of GTA 5's Los Santos based on early leaked satellite images and developer interviews. It includes the full state of Leonida, not just the city.

Four Major Biomes

GTA 6 map biomes
Urban Vice City — Skyscrapers, beach clubs, luxury districts, nightlife — the beating heart of the map with the most density and activities
Coastal & Islands — The Leonida Keys stretch south offering boats, island-hopping, water sports, and secluded criminal hideouts
Everglades / Grassrivers — Florida-inspired wetlands with swamp airboats, wildlife, and backwater criminal networks — a completely new terrain type for GTA
Rural Leonida — Small towns, highways, countryside ranches, and strip malls inspired by inland Florida — perfect for getaways and exploration

How Does It Compare to GTA 5?

GTA 5's Los Santos map was impressive for its time — a detailed recreation of Los Angeles with surrounding desert and mountains. But the GTA 6 map reportedly dwarfs it. While GTA 5 had roughly 81 square kilometers of explorable space, GTA 6's Leonida is estimated at 175–200 square kilometers based on leaked materials.
